Lakhamandal – An ancient Temple of Shiva

Lakhamandal is connected to the Mahabharat Epic. It is located about 15 km before reaching Barkot. According to Mahabharat, the Kauravas had built Lakshyagraha to burn the Pandavas. Kauravas wanted to kill the Pandavas in the Lakshyagrha. But the conspiracy of them had failed. That structure now is known as Lakha Mandal. Pandavas had created a secret tunnel inside, and using it they were all safely outside it. Later, they had to stay at Chakrnagari for up to 1 month. Nowadays It is known as Chakrata. Lakhamandal is a Shiva temple situated in the Jaunsar-Bawar in the Dehradun area, Uttarakhand.

How to reach Lakhamandal

Lakha Mandal is on Mussoorie-Yamunotri road. It is 1372 meters high from the sea level. It is about 60 km from Chakrata, 75 km from Mussoorie, and 128 km from Dehradun. People who are coming to the Mussoorie tour also go for Lakha Mandal. You can also hire a taxi from Dehradun to reach there. Many Devotees of Chardham Yatra also include this place in their travel plans.
